We hope you had a great break and are now back in the (snowy) swing of things. We're excited about 2010 and have plenty of great things in store for you at The Make Lounge. We're rolling out lots of new workshops in 2010. First up, knitting at The Make Lounge! We're looking forward to our 2-session beginner's knitting classes, taught by Sandra Dollin and Catherine Hirst (you may know Catherine from our embroidery and crochet workshops). This class teaches the fundamentals: casting on, knit, purl, increasing, decreasing, casting off and binding knitted pieces together. You'll use your new skills to create a pair of cozy wrist warmers! Details here. If you already know the basics, don't worry - we're launching an intermediate level socks class soon!

Accomplished quilter Polly Scott Bolton leads our 3-session class where you'll create a lovely baby quilt (or keep it as a lap quilt for yourself!). Learn to make and piece quilt blocks, use batting and backing, machine and hand quilt, plus add finishing touches such as bound edges and mitred corners. Details here. Choose from a gorgeous selection of designer fabrics in our shop or bring some of your own cotton fabrics (such as baby garments or other items with sentimental value) to add to the mix.

Our ever-popular DIY Craft Nights return with a Valentine's themed event on Thursday, 11 February from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Grab your spot quickly and fashion some fun items for yourself or for your loved one in the company of other friendly crafters! Tickets are £5 booked online in advance; craft kits average £5 and are available to purchase on the night of the event. Drinks and cupcakes also available!
